Tasmanian Country Sawmills Assistance Program
Under the Tasmanian Country Sawmills Assistance Program, the Australian Government is providing $4 million to assist Tasmanian country sawmills to adjust to changes in forest resources arising from the Tasmanian Community Forest Agreement. In particular, the program provides financial assistance for projects that improve sawlog utilisation rates, add value to Tasmanian forest resources, develop new products, promote exports and create long-term employment. The funding available under the Tasmanian Country Sawmills Assistance Program is additional to the $42 million being provided for the wider native forest sector under the Tasmanian Forest Industry Development Program and the $10 million for the softwood sector under the Tasmanian Softwood Industry Development Program.
The guidelines below provide more detailed information on the program.
Applications for the TCFA closed on 31 May 2006.
The Australian Government recognises that some applicants may require more time to finalise the details of their proposals. Accordingly additional information can be submitted after this date by prior agreement with the TCFA Secretariat.
