International Agricultural Cooperation Program

The Australian Government has allocated $7.7 million over four years from 2007-08 to the International Agricultural Cooperation (IAC) program to improve market access and trade growth for Australia’s agriculture, fisheries, forestry and processed food industries.

The IAC program aims to identify areas in common between Australian industries and potential trading partners, and provide technical assistance and capacity building for key and emerging trading partners. The program supports activities that will build on existing trading relationships and help build new ones through improved bilateral relationships and the removal of regulatory and technical barriers.

The program also enables a rapid response to unexpected and significant market access crises and will to help raise the awareness of domestic stakeholders of the importance of international agricultural trade.
